Here's an overview of what you'll find in this issue:

  • Musical Memos
  • Spiritually Speaking
  • Points to Ponder / In Other News
  • And the Winner Is ...

***MUSICAL MEMOS***

"The cake is in the oven" might be one way to describe the current creative process. The Muse and I are working at a slow but steady pace, and new music is percolating at various stages of the conception, gestation, and maturation process. Any new releases seem a few months away (although there are at least three different projects in various stages of completion).

***SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING***

The other day, someone asked me to define stress, and I said stress is the feeling we have when we're "resisting what is"; I guess I was reminded of The Sedona Method's idea of "Releasing Resistance". Simply put, our ego creates tension and drama in our lives when we want something that we don't have, or when we don't want something that we do have. We want to change the way things are; we resist what is.

According to The Sedona Method, pretty much everything we do is motivated by one of three things: wanting control, wanting approval, or wanting security/survival. "Resisting what is" comes from wanting control: "I don't want it to be this way; I want it to be some other way"; at least, this is the way it usually works in our mind.

The real downside is that resistance keeps us stuck. It keeps us from moving forward, because we can't (won't) let go of wanting to change the way things are. Sometimes this means letting go of something old that's no good for us; sometimes this means not reaching out for something new that's potentially life-enhancing. In either case, resistance keeps us from growing.

The way out of this dilemma is another one of those "simple, but not always easy" recipes. Simply ask yourself, "Could you let go of wanting to change that [person, place, thing, situation]? Could you allow yourself to just let it be the way it is? Could you go with the flow instead of swimming against the current?"

Ultimately, we're talking about acceptance. When we stop resisting something, we have an opportunity to accept it as it is. Fighting against something that we don't like only energizes it; longing for something that we don't have just feeds the "I don't have it" idea of lack, which is exactly what the universe hears and responds to: "okay, you'll have even more "lack" because that's what you're thinking about, what you're energizing with your thoughts, and what you're attracting."

So, instead of trying to push an idea out of our mind (suppression, repression), or wallowing in the angst of what we don't like about it (feeding the drama), we can choose to release the person, place, thing, or situation and accept it for what it is. When we release resistance and accept what is, we free up lots of energy within ourselves (that was previously invested in fighting against what is), which we can now redirect toward attracting the good things we want into our lives.

Release resistance. Accept what is. The Sedona Method has lots more to say about this, and I invite you to check that program out for yourself. (By the way, if it isn't apparent, these "Spiritually Speaking" notes arise primarily from my personal reflections about whatever I'm going through in my own journey. "The preacher also and always preaches to himself.")

***POINTS TO PONDER / IN OTHER NEWS***

The internet radio program is more involved than I originally thought. Dealing with royalties, or avoiding them entirely by getting artists to waive their rights to royalties, can be time-consuming; some of the artists are not easy to locate or contact. Anybody out there want to help me with that? :-)

Also, the program needs a name. Does anybody have an idea about what name to give this radio show? If you're suggestion gets used, I'll come up with some groovy prize or something ... (did I actually say groovy?!)

And in other news ... I finally saw the DVD, What the Bleep Do We Know? Released a couple of years ago, I like to think of it as a predecessor to The Secret; in fact, two of the guest speakers appear on both productions (Dr. John Hagelin and Dr. Fred Alan Wolf). I definitely invite you to add What the Bleep Do We Know? to your list of must-see videos.

**AND THE WINNER IS ... ***

Every issue, I give away a free CD (autographed, of course :-). If you're on the mailing list, you're automatically entered in every drawing. This month, the winner is Brenda Woodard. Congratulations!
