Here's an overview of what you'll find in this issue:

  • Musical Memos
  • Spiritually Speaking
  • Points to Ponder / In Other News
  • And the Winner Is ...

***MUSICAL MEMOS***

At the halfway point through the international radio promotion, the new CD, Love, Light, and Water, is ranked at #4 on the New Age Reporter Top 100 List in its first month of radio promotion. That makes four CDs in a row that have earned a spot in the top 5!

I am very grateful.

What's next? I'm not sure. There are several projects that have been in the works, some more developed than others. Some will move forward; some will stay on hold for a while. I'll keep you posted.

***SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING***

Love yourself. Expand yourself. Seek higher levels.

Over 25 years ago, when I was in graduate school, I was introduced to the writing of M. Scott Peck, MD, and his book, The Road Less Traveled. The book struck a chord with me--so much so that I still remember one of his quotes all these years later. I recently heard myself repeating those words to a group of graduating students:

"Love is the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth. Since it requires the extension of ourselves, love is always either work or courage. If an act if not one of work or courage, then it is not an act of love. There are no exceptions."

Then I went on to say, more or less, "Therefore, love yourself. Extend yourself. Reach up and reach out. Constantly seek to improve, to reach higher levels of maturity, understanding, and accomplishment. Always strive to better yourself. Don't settle for mediocrity. Don't just be like everyone else. Separate yourself from the pack. In the process, you may need to leave some of your acquaintances behind; you may even need to leave some of your family behind. That's okay; you're going to leave them all behind someday anyway. It just always seems to work that way."

When one person evolves into higher levels of awareness and consciousness, the rest of the human race benefits. As the saying goes, "When the water in the harbor rises, all the boats rise with it." So, when we extend ourselves to nurture our own spiritual growth, it naturally benefits everyone else.

Love yourself. Expand yourself. Seek higher levels.

***POINTS TO PONDER / IN OTHER NEWS***

Monsters Under the Bed

Ever since I was a child, I've always had a fear of someone, or something, being under my bed at night.

So, I went to a shrink and told him, "I've got problems. Every time I go to bed, I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared. I think I'm going crazy."

"Just put yourself in my hands for one year," said the shrink. "Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears."

"How much do you charge?"

"Eighty dollars per visit," replied the doctor.

"I'll sleep on it," I said.

Six months later, the doctor met me on the street.

"Why didn't you ever come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked.

"Well, eighty bucks a visit, three times a week, for a year is an awful lot of money! A bartender cured me for $10. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup!"

"Is that so!" With an attitude, the shrink asked, "And how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?"

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed! Ain't nobody under there now!"
