Leela Music Newsletter, December 2009

Michael Stribling

Newsletter, December 2009

Here's an overview of what you'll find in this issue:

  • Musical Memos
  • Spiritually Speaking
  • Points to Ponder / In Other News
  • And the Winner Is ...

***MUSICAL MEMOS***

During the second month of the international radio promotion for The Promise, the new CD reached the #2 spot on the Zone Music Reporter Top 100 List in November, for the second month in a row!

On the horizon is the Zone Music Reporter Lifestyle Music Awards qualifying process, which begins in January. Here's hoping The Promise does well. Nominations are posted in February, I think, with the winners being announced in March.

IKYP (I'll keep you posted).

***SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING***

As 2009 comes to an end, I'm taking a look back at the past year and looking forward to 2010. As I did a year ago, I reviewed this last year's newsletters, to take another look at what I had written. Here's a summary of the topics:

January: We become what we think about and what we do, so choose well.

February: Bring a little light into the world and help dispel the darkness.

March: To get from Point A to Point B, you have to leave Point A.

April: It's an inside job.

May: Do all things out of love and gratitude.

June: The only constant is change. Embrace it.

July: Find out where the button is, and don't push it.

August: Let things happen. All in good time.

September: Reconnect with nature; reconnect with yourself.

October: Ready. Set. Grow.

November: Tend the bonfires. And enlighten the world.

December: a reflection on the past year, and a look to the future.

It has been another wonderful year. Here's looking forward to 2010 being even better. I wish you all the best for a Happy New Year.

***POINTS TO PONDER / IN OTHER NEWS***

Washington Post Neologisms, part 2

The Washington Post's Style Invitational also asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are this year's winners:

  1. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
  2. Foreploy (v.): Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of having sex.
  3. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.
  4. Giraffiti (n.): Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
  5. Sarchasm (n.): The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
  6. Inoculatte (v.): To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
  7. Hipatitis (n.): Terminal coolness.
  8. Osteopornosis (n.): A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)
  9. Karmageddon (n.): its like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.
  10. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
  11. Glibido (v.): All talk and no action.
  12. Dopeler effect (n.): The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
  13. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
  14. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.
  15. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a grub in the fruit you're eating.
  16. And the pick of the literature:

  17. Ignoranus (n.): A person who's both stupid and a butthole.
